NEWROCK Founder Anthony Ivory Looking Forward To Inaugural Season

The New Rock Prep Sports Academy located in Covington, Georgia is set to open July 18 2016. The academy’s Founder Anthony Ivory, is paving the way for student-athletes to achieve their goals of playing at the collegiate level. Ivory, a long time basketball and football coach, drew inspiration from Georgia Prep Sports Academy to set his own trail.”I got some ideas while working at GPSA. I have a passion for academics and athletics and I wanted to merge the two,” Ivory said.
One of the best facets of NRPSA is college athletes won’t tap into their eligibility time in regards to the NCAA. As of right now, men’s basketball is the only sport that is offered but Ivory plans to add women’s basketball next season and football in year three. By the fifth year, either soccer or baseball will also be added. And to top it off, NRPSA is partnered with Georgia Piedmont and Technical College, formerly known as Dekalb Technical College. Therefore, the courses taken by the student-athletes will transfer to other institutions. Student-athletes classified as non-qualifiers by the NCAA will also benefit from the program as it offers credit repair and help studying for the ACT and SAT.
The academy is in its inaugural year and is expecting to have nearly 25 students. A military veteran, Ivory already has the blueprint for the academy and understands the importance of discipline.”I’m a person that [strongly believes] in having a schedule,” said Ivory. “These student-athletes will know exactly what they are doing from the time they wake up until the time they go to bed. The academy is not currently affiliated with a conference. Ivory wants to ensure his student-athletes are in a place where they can showcase their talent.
