The term Long Snapper refers to a center whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance. John Raines from Ridgeland, Mississippi just happens to be the number one Long Snapper in the state. Standing 6’2″ 225lbs Raines clearly passes the eye test for college coaches and has for sure catch the eye of snapping instructor Chris Rubio. Raines closed out 2016 ranked as the 23rd Long Snapper in the country, named one of he top performers at a recent Rubio Snapping Camp in Midlothian, Texas.

Rubio reported that Raines was great all day during the camp, looking very polished and was snapping with a good amount of confidence. Raines competed the entire day, making it to the final round of competition and just came short of taken home the championship. Raines is excited about getting back to work in 2017, he’s determined to be the best in the country at his position. Continue to follow 2018 LS John Raines this camp season on the Play Book Network.
