Keyshawn Copeland: Dreaming Big

Rewind Keyshawn Copeland

“I’ve got a dream that’s more than my sleep”

Times change but the passion you have for your particular sport doesn’t. Keyshawn Copeland, a 2019 quarterback for Forest Park High School has that passion and has his eyes on the prize. He has put in extra time this summer with a personal trainer and has attended various college and exposure camps around the East Coast. Some of the college camps include the University of North Carolina, Temple University, Rutgers University and University of Virginia. Keyshawn’s grind didn’t stop there, he went on to compete against other quarterbacks at QB Epic and VTO Virginia where he walked away with the VTO Ultimate 100 Quarterback MVP of 2016 award.

We sat down with Keyshawn to discuss the upcoming season.

PB:  Keyshawn, what are your personal goals for the upcoming football season?Keyshawn MVP

KC: “My goal for this season is to solidify my position as a starter.  I want to make sure we win the ball games.  Last year’s QB had over 2,500 yards passing and my goal is to continue what he started and also to have about 800 yards rushing.  I also want to get offers from D1 colleges. Going to camps this summer is really helping me with competition and making me want to work harder…”

PB:  What do you you think is your team’s strength that will help you guys to win your games?

KC:  “Our team is really stacked in many different ways.  We have a young team, with great line, receivers, running backs and a great coaching staff.   But the thing that will help us most is that everyone on this team is a family and we love one another.”

PB:  Before a game some guys eat a very specific meal, others listen to rap to get hype.  What is your pre-game ritual like?

KC:  Before games I would normally go and be by myself listening to the same set of songs always.

Well, from working hard every single day to sitting in a corner listening to his favorite songs before game time, it’s clear that this 6’2″ 162 lb. quarterback will show up and show out this fall under the lights.
