Elite Talent Football Academy Adds Lacrosse to Its Repertoire

By Tracey L. Smith

elite-talent-logoWhen Derrick Tatum founded Elite Talent Football Academy, he couldn’t imagine the program would have so much success and positively impact so many young lives. With training sites across Georgia, Elite Talent football is recognized by coaches and athletes on every level: middle school, high school and college. Elite Talent has made an immeasurable mark in the area of youth football training and that success led to the expansion into lacrosse training.

The addition of a lacrosse training program to a football-focused training program is no ordinary occurrence. In fact, it’s a game-changing move by Derrick Tatum. Traditionally, trainers have put emphasis on training in one sports area or another; however, Tatum is focusing on two areas (football and lacrosse) and finding success in both. Tatum’s successful expansion into lacrosse training will likely encourage others to diversify and expand their offerings.

So how did this former NFL Football player get involved with lacrosse training?

Said Tatum, “I was running a successful football training program when a few people asked me to help out with lacrosse. I decided to give it a try and when I did—I realized that many of the lacrosse moves were similar to those in football, with a few nuances.” Derrick tweaked those nuances to develop a one-of-a-kind, successful lacrosse training program. Now, Derrick is training lacrosse players from all over the U.S. and the program is growing.
