For many students the start of a new school year means, being one step closer to graduation, making new friends and reuniting with favorite teachers. But for Roman Purcell, it means the start of football season at Cathedral High School and “Friday Night Lights”. “I am looking forward to practicing and playing games with my team,” he says.
This multi-sport athlete has skills and moves that will definitely prove to be beneficial to his current coaches and team members as well as those to come in the future. But Roman says it wasn’t always easy for him and there were some that doubted his ability. “I think people doubted me because they didn’t know me,” he admits. “I am the biggest competitor even though I don’t talk alot. If you spend time with me and see how hard I work you know not to doubt me.”
Roman never focused on what people said. He just worked hard to prove to himself that he could do whatever he put his mind to. He said, “I’ve learned that you have to believe in yourself and your dreams. Focus on building your team and being the best at what you do. He said he and his coaches have a plan for his development and growth. He’s focused on being the best quarterback that he can and striving to be the top QB in his class, one of which he says is “loaded” with great QBs.
Up bright and early. Getting that extra work in. @CathedralFBall #KeepThatAxeSharp pic.twitter.com/bDdyQ4cvUl
