WHY I GRIND

Hello! My name is Dominic DeLuzio. I’m 14 years old and will be beginning my freshman year of HS in August of 2019 at The Hun School of Princeton in Princeton, NJ as RB/LB/KR for the 5 time MAPL league champion Raiders. I am currently finishing up a successful 8th grade year at Pleasant Valley Middle School in Brodheadsville in the Pocono region of Pennsylvania. I am a scholar athlete and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. I value God, family, academics, community service and athletics. I strive to be a person of character, integrity and leadership. Being a well rounded, humble and grounded person is important to me and one of my family values. I was awarded as a “Lead the way” recipient for being a well rounded person and leader in my school and was honored to be introduced to the crowd before our hometown HS football game. I have worked with my family doing excavating and manual labor since I was a little boy. I have heavy machinery skills operating front loaders and bull dozers. Working from such a young age with our family business taught me responsibility, reliability and many other values. I have also volunteered helping those less fortunate in my community. I have spent time at the local food pantry volunteering as well as volunteering at my local church. Athletically, I have wrestled, run track and played football since 4 years old. Having been involved in sports since I was very young has taught me how to be a supportive teammate.

Athletically, I am blessed to have excelled in each sport winning many awards and receiving many accolades. Football is my favorite sport. I ended my middle school career with a great 8th grade season. On offense I had 30 touchdowns, 1,398 rushing yds averaging 23.3 yards per carry, 647 receiving yards and 520 return yards On defense as MLB I led the team with over 100 tackles. I was moved up to play 8th grade ball as an incoming 7th grader and earned starting RB/LB and KR spots as well as appointed both offensive and defensive team captain because of my knowledge of the game and leadership skills. In the off season I competed at the Northeast showcase and combine in Edison, NJ and placed 1st overall out of almost 50 other 2023 all star prospects. I had the fastest 40 yard dash time and was top in other events. I then competed as an All-American in Atlanta, Georgia with other top recruits from around the country. Our team earned our way into the championship game. This year I have had 3 national articles written about me and have been identified by 247 sports and youth1 as a one of the nations top 2023 prospects. I was honored to be ranked as #54 in the nation as RB/LB even before my 8th grade season began. Toward the end of the season I was so appreciative to be written about again in another sports article and nominated nationally as 247 Sports “All-American Football Player of the Week”.

I am committed to working hard in all areas of my life to reach my personal, academic and athletic goals and have ambitions to study at and play football at a top university in the future.
