Perry Wells, “Why I Grind”

Meet 2020 Strong Safety Perry Wells. He started playing football at the young age of five in Humble, Texas. But he says when he was younger, he doubted himself and his abilities. “I was so small and everyone was stronger and faster, but it only pushed me to work harder.”  Hard at work he is. In addition to training at school five days a week, he does weight, footwork and position specific training twice a week. He also takes part in resistance training at least once a week. “It’s critical to your game to get specific position training,” he says. “You have to set yourself apart from other players and in order to do that, you have to put in work.”

Perry isn’t playing to just fit in, he says he plays to stand out. He trains with his father for his hill work,  Coach Theadis Reagins for DB techniques, Coach Darren Hendricks at Texas Footwork LLC  for his footwork technique training, Johny Lewis with JL3 Sports and Fitness Training for resistance, Kevin Jay at Infinity Fitness Solutions for weight training, Cornelius Brown for speed/conditioning and DB techniques and several other organizations such as Armed Sports Performance with Derrick Blaylock and EA Sport Training.
