2021 QB Jack Stephens Redefining Mental and Physical Toughness

2021 QB Jack Stephens

Where is the safety?  Are the linebackers blitzing?  Can I get the first down with my legs?  These are a few things going through the mind of 2021 Quarterback Jack Stephens  while he is under center on the gridiron.  It won’t be long before trying to decide which of the nation’s top athletic programs will be taking over this future gunslinger’s thoughts.  But for now, Jack is content with climbing his way to the top and emerging as one of the top quarterbacks coming out of the 2021 class.

Redefining what mental and physical toughness is at the QB position, Jack Stephens from Germantown, TN puts his foot on the gas in the first quarter and doesn’t let up until he’s unlacing his pads in the locker room.  His field vision and situational awareness are already beyond his years; attracting interest from programs like the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Nowhere near reaching the peak of his physical growth, this 6’0” 150-pound physical athlete has all of the intangibles; earning him an invite to the U-14 USA International Select Team.  A proven multi-sport athlete, Stephens recently ran in the Memphis University School Track meet 800M event clocking a winning time of 2:22 and bringing his win total to 3 of 3 this year.

As the dynamics of recruiting continue to change, it is becoming more and more evident that college coaches are 100% interested in the athletes on-field abilities, and they’re 100% interested in the athletes off-field behaviors as well.  We caught up with Matt Stephens, Jack’s father, and asked him about Jack’s off-field behaviors.  While Matt shared many stories that confirmed what we have come to know about Jack, it was the story that described Jack’s humility and humbleness that stuck with us the most.  Matt spoke about a family that was in need that Jack had become familiar with. Without being prompted, Jack went into his own closet and gave to that family to fill a need that they had.  These acts of kindness and a willingness to put others before himself sum up the character of this quarterback from Germantown.
