There is a sadness in our hearts. We’re mad at this world that’s having an influx of violence that is gravely impacting American youth. We’re devastated that a young promising athlete with scholarship offers to major colleges has lost his life to a stray bullet. One of those offers came just a mere 6 days ago from the University of Illinois.
Blessed to receive my second D1 offer from Illinois🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/9F4yzEXRDN

At only 14-years old Jaylon McKenzie had just enjoyed his 8th-grade prom and was ready to start his high school academic and athletic career in 3 months. But tragedy has taken that away from him. It has robbed his mother of seeing her youngest son’s dreams turn into a reality. It has taken away the opportunity for this hopeful to attend college and pursue his NFL dreams.
The Play Book Athlete Family prays that peace will be with his mother Sukeena Gunner and the family. We’re also praying for the families of the other shooting victims of the East St. Louis School District.
