He’s the 2016-17 Offensive Player of the Year in the WIAA Classic Eight Conference. He had 2,040 rushing yards, 23 touchdowns and averaged 170 yards per game and received a WIFCA All-State honorable mention. One could say that Peter MacCudden has had a great junior season. And although the Waukesha West Wolverines’ season ended a little earlier than they desired, the 5’10” 195 pound running back says it was good to come out of the season healthy.
With the regular season behind him, Peter is gearing up for the camp season. He has already attended the Elite Junior Day at the University of Wisconsin and has plans to take part in their football camp and a few others this summer. But what he is really concentrating on this spring is his training. Since he was in 5th grade, Peter has been training at the NX Level sports training facility there in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
We caught up with him and asked him about the training he has been getting. “At NX Level it is definitely a grind,” he admits. “Throughout our workout we have our trainer telling us step-by-step and coaching us on form, making sure we aren’t doing it wrong and potentially hurting our bodies.” Peter’s training starts with stretching, to warm up the muscles and then moves into various mobility exercises. The exercises correspond with the types of lifting on the agenda for that day such as benches, squats and dead lifts. The regime then moves into running and conditioning which he says, tests them mentally as well as physically.
The workout ends with another round of stretching to loosen up the muscles once again. “One thing that makes NX Level different is the people and the trainers,” he says. “There is a huge amount of trust at NX Level from athlete to trainer and that is what makes it so easy to go there everyday.”
As you can see from his training, accolades and stats, this phenomenal athlete is definitely taking steps in the right direction to reach his goals.
