Shouts out to young J.J. McCarthy, a duel sport athlete from Chicago, Illinois. J.J. plays both football and hockey but displayed his quarterback skills in San Antonio, Texas at the NextGen Futures Combine earlier this month. “The combine in San Antonio was an amazing experience and I was excited to be there,” he says. “So many great athletes and QB’S especially.”
J.J. models his work ethic after a quote made by quarterback coach Tony Ballard. “Coach Ballard says that iron sharpens iron. I truly believe that you need to compete against the best in order to get better.”
J.J. has taken his experience and all the coaches’ comments from the San Antonio combine and applied it in his weekly training. He was invited to the Rise & Fire competition in Chicago this coming May and also has hopes of working with Coach Dennis Gile of the Quarterback Academy in Scottsdale, AZ during spring break.
“I want to never be outworked. Attitude and effort are the only things I can control. The rest is in God’s hands.
