Making the adjustment from high school to college athletics can be one of the biggest challenges of your life. So, it’s important to develop good study habits and time management skills now. For 2018 multi-athlete Greggory Rodgers the challenge is not unfamiliar. As a member of the Grovetown High School football and wrestling team, he says it’s sometimes difficult to balance school and athletics. “The challenge for me is prioritizing the two and what to do when things feel out of balance,” he admits. “School always comes first, but with daily practices and games, not to mention the traveling, it can be hard for me to find the time for homework or other activities.”
Although sometimes difficult, he says it’s a challenge that presents a good opportunity for him to learn life lessons. “I believe having time management skills is essential to accomplishing a balance that will lead to my success, in life.” It’s also great to have a solid support system in place. Greggory says his parents provide a supportive environment that assists him with managing his time. He doesn’t seem to be swaying from the right direction. He currently holds a core GPA of 4.0 with an overall GPA of 3.9. He landed a 22 on his last ACT test with plans to take the test a few more times in hopes of increasing it.
Right now the star athlete is focusing on his wrestling season which is in the final stages. With a current record of 38-6, the Region 3AAAAAA champion will be competing in the state championship that will be held in Macon, Georgia this month. Soon after, he’ll hit the field again to focus on football.
