Many times in football you can learn more about yourself from a loss more than you can from a win.
That’s just the mindset GPSA head man Coach Carson is taking after travelling to Little Rock, Arkansas to face Arkansas Baptist in War Memorial Stadium where the Lions came up short in a 32-12 loss.
This was the first collegiate level game for most of the Georgia Prep players. A game that required them to travel over 400 miles, to play in a big environment in a stadium much larger than most of them have played in. Arkansas hosted UGA there just 2 years ago. It was also against a team with some players that have been in their program more than a year.
Mistakes are almost to be expected in a game like this and the fumble bug hit hard with 4 lost fumbles. This put GPSA in a bind early on, but Coach Carson was proud of the freshman fighting back. While Arkansas Baptist had 26 points by halftime, the Lions only allowed 6 points total in the second half.
That second half is definitely something to build on, as Coach Carson and the team plans to use their bye week to get some things fixed, focus on fundamentals, and prepare for their next contest at Alabama Prep on September 4th.
