The Road to recognition can be a long bumpy one but if you read your map correctly, you could have a smooth trip.Gone are the days of performing well on Friday nights in hopes of being seen by college coaches. Today, there are many camps and combines hosted by groups like Rivals, Scout and NUC Sports. High school athletes also flock to the camps at colleges that they hope to attend. In the off-season Sophomore Dane Motley did just that. He visited Clemson, University of Tennessee, FSU, the USA Regional Camp, FBU Regional Camp, Larry Fedora Camp and the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp. Dane also attended the Atlanta Adidas Showcase where he was honored as being one of the top 5 DB’s.
The 6’0″ 184 pound defensive back immediately jumps out at you when he’s on the field. Dane has the keen ability to see in front of him. He is able to track the ball and he is never afraid to go up and get it. Stopping the other players from scoring seems to be his feat.
Not only is Dane excelling in football, this multi-sport athlete is pretty good on the basketball court as well. Playing the position of Wing, he averages 12+ points per game and also won the Alpharetta High School JV Basketball award for most improved.
Being recognized athletically is huge but being recognized academically is an even greater accomplishment. Dane is an honor roll student and has also been named into the National Society of High School Scholars.
Dane has natural ability and pushes himself to the fullest. Not many athletes have the raw talent and the work ethic that he has. He is doing everything he needs to do in order to make his road to recognition a smooth and successful one.
