Cole has been playing football from the age of 8. The Holland, Michigan High School sophomore, Offensive Tackle stands at 6’3” and weighs in at 285 lbs. The honor student ultimately wants to play football in college and works hard to achieve his goal. As an athlete, it was surprising even to Cole when he took a turn into the theater. His mother, Angela Schut explained how this athlete turned thespian.
She shared this story with the Play Book, “last year the Competition Theater team from Holland High School needed a guy to play the Count in their production of “Strider: The Story of a Horse.” Cole was recruited by his sister, Chyna, who is very active in theater to join the team. He was reluctant at first because it was way out of his comfort zone but he dug in and did his best. The team won their 18th (out of 22) State Championship with their performance. Cole went on to play “Beef” in Holland High School Production of “Good News.” This year, he will audition for the Competition Theater team again. Currently he is helping with the Fall production of Mary Poppins behind the scenes as one holding the ropes and helping Mary fly.”
So there you have it, Cole Schut has now joined the ranks of other accomplished athletes the likes of Tony Romo, Terry Bradshaw, Dan Marino and Dean Cain who have been bitten by the acting bug and become thespians. Make no mistake, football runs deep in the veins of this thespian but at his core he is an athlete. He continues to leave it all on the football field in pursuit of his athletic goals.
