  • WHY I GRIND

As I was growing up, I struggled through school. My GPA was fair and there were times I felt as though I didn’t care if I passed. My parents pushed me to continue to do my best, but we still could not understand why I struggled. Finally, in 6th grade, I was diagnosed with A.D.D. It was recommended that I get more physical activity and change my diet. I started playing football in 7th grade and over time I learned maturity and the importance of being a student-athlete. I started making better grades, I went from making C’s and D’s to making the A-B honor roll and started to gain a more positive outlook on school and academics. As one of the team’s leaders, I am the guy who always leads by example. I am not the most vocal, but when something needs to be said I am the one who speaks up. Being two-time regional champions and one game away from being state champions in back to back years, I am motivated me to be the best teammate, leader, and player I can be on and off the field. One experience that inspired me was FCA. My involvement with FCA helped me to grow as a person as well as become a better leader and teammate. I’ve also taken part in community service to help kids with down syndrome. In conclusion, due to my experiences, I believe that I will be a great asset to your program.
