Let’s Get to Know Kody Morrell

By Joyce Oscar

Apopka, Florida…the home of Steve Baylark, Warren Sapp and 2021 Kody Morrell. In order to be a great athlete, you have to think like a great athlete. Much like those mentioned previously, the young Winter Park Tiger QB knows and has what it takes to reach his goals. His name is synonymous with purposefulness, perseverance and persistence.

You will rarely meet young athletes with a schedule like Kody’s. Each morning, before many of us have glanced kody-morrell-1at daylight, he is already well into his 5:30 AM workout with Hunter Wood a strength trainer from CWSC Performance. After he nourishes his body with a wholesome breakfast he dives into his studies at Orange County Virtual School. But it doesn’t stop there. When he’s done with academics he gets in a few throwing sessions before resting and heading off to football practice. Then it’s dinner, homework and bed only to wake and do it all over again the next day. “I love it a lot,” says Kody. “I have thought I might want to be a trainer and coach when I get done playing football.”

Not only is Kody a dedicated and determined athlete, he has the athletic IQ to match. He attributes much of this to his cousin John Morton, former Wide Receiver Coach and Passing Game Coordinator for USC and the current Wide Receiver Coach for the New Orleans Saints.

It’s clear that Kody Morrell has tremendous athletic ability for someone of such a young age and we can’t wait to see what he and the Tigers have in store for us this season.
