2021 Jason Ward Shares His Passion For Sports

I began playing football in the 1st grade. I always loved sports and had a passion for the them. My dad asked me if I wanted to play football and I said yes because I love sports. The next thing I remember is my mom taking me to my first practice and I’ve been playing football ever since. Throughout  all my years of playing football, I learned to be discipline and coachable. These things then brought me to learn how to have a positive attitude. Since I’m the leader of the team, keeping a positive attitude is needed, otherwise having a bad one will spread to everyone on the field and will create problems or lead to us losing a game. I had to overcome the obstacle of taking a hard lost. If we loss a game because we didn’t play well, that’s on us, but if we loss because of little mistakes we should already know, then I had to learn to take what’s good in the past and use what we did wrong for future purposes. Another obstacle I had to overcome was dwelling on bad plays. I had to learn to have short memory and move on to do better on the next play. Since I learned to be better at these things, now I am a better leader on the field and a better football player.

Other sports and activities I have skills in include: piano, track, and basketball. I have been playing the piano for the past 8 years and running track for 3 years. I played basketball this past school year. I am determined to achieve everything I do and will never quit. The things in my life that influenced me were family, my mentality of always wanting to be better than the best, and most recently receiving invites from the most popular top football camps in the country. My academic goals for school are to maintain my current 4.0 GPA in high school and college and to go to college for entrepreneurship. One of my quotes that is helping me push through this journey is ‘True Mind, True Heart, True Greatness.”
